About Schieve Photo
Artist's Statement - Photographer Gregg Schieve
I have always used still photography as a creative release from my "real job". Before starting my own video production company, Tweedee Productions, I worked for 18 years as a television news photographer. Vacations usually meant heading to Northern Wisconsin to get away from my video work and to have "fun" photographing nature and the great outdoors. There's nothing more creatively fulfilling than making a personal photograph that statisfies even my harshest critic - me.
Photography to me is more an art form and less an exercise in operating a piece of photographic equipment. If the camera has a lens and can shoot a photo, I can make art.
On January 1 of 2010, I started shooting a photo everyday and posting it to my Facebook page. I call the project Photo-A-Day. Using a small point and shoot camera, and limted to only five exposures a day, I try to find an interesting image or make a statement about life on a particular day.
Please enjoy my photographs and come back often to see more. The still cameras I've used are a Pentax K1000, Nikon F2, Nikon F3, Nikon N90, Nikon D300, Sony DSC-W290, and a Nikon Coolpix P7000. All images are processed with Photoshop.
